This is the 1957 Labor Day parade in Newark, Ohio. The man on the horse is my father, Frank. He was 6' 7" tall. The horse, named Pink, was a large horse (look at his size compared to the crowd). Notice that there are only 48 stars on the American Flag; at the time Hawaii and Alaska were not states. The horse in the foreground was named Dolly, ridden by my father's friend Bill.
Oil on canvas, 16" X 20", Nancy Lee Lewis (C) 2018.
